HISTORY : 

Kyung Hee University originated in 1949 as Sin Heung Junior College, a 2-year college. Amid the financial crisis of the Korean War, Young Seek Choue bought the struggling school in 1951 and had it accredited as a 4-year undergraduate college in 1952. In 1954, the graduate school was established. The college was renamed to Kyung Hee University in 1960.

Student Enrollment:

As of 2023, Kyung Hee University has approximately 33,000 students enrolled, with roughly 28,875 undergraduate students and 7,498 graduate students.

Kyung Hee University offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across 24 different colleges, including the College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, College of Business Administration, and the College of Medicine. Some of the most popular programs at Kyung Hee University include Hotel and Tourism Management, East-West Medical Science and Medicine

International Students:

The university offers a study abroad program in partnership with 434 sister universities in 69 countries.

Activities:

The Global Collaborative is a summer program that allows international students to attend classes led by scholars and engage in discussions about global governance and sustainability. The Global Collaborative is co-run by the University of Pennsylvania, Peking University, Ritsumeikan University, and Moscow State University with the cooperation of the United Nations and the Conference of NGOs (CoNGO). Through research, education and modules on global governance, or sustainability and the environment, international students collaborate on research projects.

Application Submission: International students must complete an online application form and submit the required documents, which typically include academic transcripts, English proficiency test scores (such as TOEFL or IELTS), letters of recommendation, and a personal statement or essay.

Visa Application: After being accepted, international students must apply for a student visa at the nearest Korean embassy or consulate in their home country. To obtain a student visa, the student must provide a valid passport, an acceptance letter from the university, and proof of financial support.

Arrival and Enrollment: Once the student arrives in Korea, they must attend an orientation session and register for classes.

Admission Review: Once the application and supporting documents are received, the university will review the application and make an admission decision based on the applicant’s academic background, English proficiency, and other qualifications. 

Interview (Optional): Some departments or programs may require an interview as part of the admission process. The interview may be conducted in-person or via video conference. 

Admission Notification: Applicants will be notified of their admission decision via email or mail.

Kyung Hee University Korean language training program

Regular courses are offered in six levels, from level 1 to level 6. Each level lasts 10 weeks and it takes approximately 1 year and 6 months to complete 6 levels. The main curriculum consists of vocabulary, grammar, speaking, listening, reading and writing.

One semester is conducted in 10 weeks (200 hours), 4 hours per day, from Monday to Friday (5 days per week. Class is assigned based on the student’s ability through the level test at the beginning of a semester.

Morning class : 9 AM ~ 12:50 PM Afternoon class : 1:10 PM ~ 5 PMAt KLA, we offer 1: 1 mentoring program, in which Korean students majoring in Teaching Korean as a foreign language to foreigners help foreign students to practice Korean and adapt to life in Korea. In addition, various cultural experience events are organized every semester in order to help foreign students to learn about Korean culture. After completing each semester, students will be awarded with a certificate of completion and a transcript. The certificate will be given to the students who meet the standards regarding the result of the regular examination, attendance and class participation.
