The best Korean drinking games

Korean drinking games : Korea has a variety of drinking games that are enjoyed during social gatherings. These games add fun and excitement to the drinking experience and are often played among friends or colleagues. Here are some popular Korean drinking games

“Napkin Nunchi”: In this game, participants sit around a table and take turns saying a number from one to the maximum number agreed upon. However, certain numbers (such as multiples of 7 or numbers containing the digit 7) are replaced with claps or other actions. The player who makes a mistake or fails to respond correctly drinks.

“Finger Guessing Game”: This game involves participants holding out a certain number of fingers on each hand and simultaneously guessing the total number of fingers held out by all players. If a player guesses incorrectly, they must drink.

“Image Game” : The Image Game is all about votes, if you get the most votes you lose (or win, if you enjoy taking shots!). The first player has to start by saying something descriptive. Such as: “Had most girlfriends/boyfriends”. Everyone then points at the whom they think fits the description the most. If you receive the most votes you have to drink.

“Sip Sip Shot”: In this game, participants sit in a circle and take turns saying “sip” or “shot” while counting from one. When a player reaches a multiple of a certain number (e.g., 7), they must either take a sip or a shot. The game continues with increasing difficulty as the counting goes on.

“Fruit Basket”: Players are assigned the names of various fruits. When the host calls out a fruit name, everyone with that assigned fruit must quickly switch seats. The last person to find a seat becomes the next caller and must drink.

“369”: Participants take turns counting in sequence, but replace numbers that contain the digit 3 or are multiples of 3 with the word “clap.” For example, instead of saying “3” or “6,” they would clap their hands. If a player makes a mistake, they drink.

“Kai Bai Bo”: This game is similar to rock-paper-scissors. Participants face off against each other by showing a hand gesture representing either a chicken, tiger, or bear. The winner forces the loser to drink.

“Baskin Robbins 31” : Before starting, you all sit in a circle. In Korea, it is customary that the players will start by chanting the Baskin Robbin’s 31. But, if you feel this is a little too much for your level of musicality, you can fastforward to the next step! It is a game of numbers again. Taking turns, each player is allowed to say up to three successive numbers until 31 is reached. It is the player’s choice whether to say 1, 2 or 3 numbers.

For example: If you start, you could say 1 or 1, 2 or 1, 2, 3. The one after you has the same choice, but then starting from the last said number. As you might have suspected, the player that in the end is stuck with the number 31 has to drink.

” Flicking the bottle cap” : Take a soju cap or any other similar bottle cap. Make sure that it has a loose end. Twist the loose end until it is straight (like shown in the image below). Afterwards, you simply have to take turns flicking the loose end until someone breaks it off and has to drink. Only one flick per turn is allowed.

“Hi Low” : After you are done flicking around the bottle cap, there is a whole new game that you can play with that same bottle cap! Who would have known that one bottle cap can be so much fun? The game is started by the one who won the bottle cap game (the one that had to drink).

Inside the bottle cap, there should be a number and the one starting the game has to say if it’s a number between which numbers it is (for example 1 – 50). The other players will then start guessing what the number is and the one with bottle cap hints if its higher or lower. The one who guessed it right is safe (so no shots for them), however the players to the left and right of that person have to drink!

Remember, Korean drinking games should be played responsibly and in moderation. It’s important to prioritize safety and respect everyone’s limits when participating in drinking games.
