HISTORY :
Hankuk University of Foreign Studies is a private research university based in Seoul. In April 1954, HUFS was founded as a college for studying foreign languages in by Kim Heung-bae with its first students studying English, French, Chinese, German, Spanish and Russian. Throughout its history, the university has been visited by numerous foreign dignitaries, including Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, Joko Widodo of Indonesia, Viktor Orban of Hungary, Abdullah Gul of Turkey, Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj of Mongolia, Bronislaw Komorowski of Poland, and many others.

University Programs:
Hankuk University of Foreign Studies currently teaches 45 foreign languages. In addition, it contains studies in humanities, law, social sciences, business, medical science, natural sciences, and engineering. Hankuk University of Foreign Studies contributes to regional studies, with graduate courses in international and regional studies. Activities:
Greetings from ISO, The International Student Organization at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. The ISO was first established in 2003 for the purpose of providing information necessary for college life and opportunities for exchange and visiting students at HUFS to experience Korean culture. We offer a variety of events each semester and are dedicated to promoting globalization and intercultural exchange among HUFS students.
Application Submission: International students must complete an online application form and submit the required documents, which typically include academic transcripts, English proficiency test scores (such as TOEFL or IELTS), letters of recommendation, and a personal statement or essay.
Visa Application: After being accepted, international students must apply for a student visa at the nearest Korean embassy or consulate in their home country. To obtain a student visa, the student must provide a valid passport, an acceptance letter from the university, and proof of financial support.
Arrival and Enrollment: Once the student arrives in Korea, they must attend an orientation session and register for classes.
Admission Review: Once the application and supporting documents are received, the university will review the application and make an admission decision based on the applicant’s academic background, English proficiency, and other qualifications.
Interview (Optional): Some departments or programs may require an interview as part of the admission process. The interview may be conducted in-person or via video conference.

- Minerva College – Center for Writing & International Ethics (Non-Diploma)- not an official college nor a division but offers a variety of lectures. Based on these, students choose to take a course to fill out the credits. HUFS undergraduates are supposed to take “Minerva Liberal Arts Lecture(1), Minerva Liberal Arts Lecture(2)”, which are mandatory courses for graduation as well as “Freshmen Seminar” in each department. They contain information on history, linguistics, communications, philosophy, politics, discussion, debates, and report and essay, all of which are based on Humanity Studies.
