HISTORY : 

Starting as a church-run kindergarten in 1916, CAU transformed into a school for female kindergarten teachers in 1922 and was granted university status in 1953. Established in 1918, CAU has endured through the painful course of Korea’s modern history, upholding its ideal of “Truth and Justice”. The university operates two campuses: main campus located in Dongjak District, Seoul, and an additional campus in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.

Student Enrollment:

As of 2023, Chung-Ang University has approximately 33,600 undergraduate students and 5,200 graduate students.

University Programs:

Chung-Ang University offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs across 16 different colleges, including the College of Humanities, College of Social Sciences, College of Natural Sciences, College of Business Administration, and the College of Medicine. Some of the most popular programs at Hanyang University include Media Communication, Nursing, Performance Film Creation

International Students:

The international student population in Chung-Ang University reaches approximately 2,000. Approximately 200 exchange students are admitted into Chung-Ang University per year.

Activites:

While striving for academic achievement is a primary goal in the campus, participating in extracurricular activities is another key part of life at Chung-Ang. Well over 100 student clubs and organizations are progressively involved in diverse areas.

Chung-Ang Hanmadang, one of Chung-Ang’s major festivals, is held annually at around October 11 to celebrate the university’s “birthday.” This vibrant festival is participated in by the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and local community and features a colorful array of academic, artistic, and physical activities.

Application Submission: International students must complete an online application form and submit the required documents, which typically include academic transcripts, English proficiency test scores (such as TOEFL or IELTS), letters of recommendation, and a personal statement or essay.

Visa Application: After being accepted, international students must apply for a student visa at the nearest Korean embassy or consulate in their home country. To obtain a student visa, the student must provide a valid passport, an acceptance letter from the university, and proof of financial support.

Arrival and Enrollment: Once the student arrives in Korea, they must attend an orientation session and register for classes.

Admission Review: Once the application and supporting documents are received, the university will review the application and make an admission decision based on the applicant’s academic background, English proficiency, and other qualifications. 

Interview (Optional): Some departments or programs may require an interview as part of the admission process. The interview may be conducted in-person or via video conference. 

Admission Notification: Applicants will be notified of their admission decision via email or mail.

Chung-Ang University korea International Summer School

Program IntroductionHanyang International Summer School is a short-term education program that started in 1990 for foreign students living abroad in Korea during their summer vacation every year. The students who participate in the program will learn about Korea’s politics, economy, society, history, and culture through classes at the university and other various cultural experiences outside of the university. Hanyang International Summer School is used as an opportunity for Hanyang University students and students from universities abroad to build academic and cultural exchange opportunities.
